Mission

In El Paso County, there is 84 Mental Health Providers per 100,000 people [1]. The high volume of appointment requests per practitioner results in long wait times that may discourage an individual from attempting to obtain mental health care. To combat this discouragement, we have developed an app prototype that can provide resources to promote optimism and resilience among potential clients, which are two main tenets of therapy [2]. The main goal of this app is to provide localized resources to El Paso citizens to encourage active interest in local mental health care. The secondary goal is to allow clinicians to utilize the information collected through the app to implement in session to utilize during goal setting.

We plan to build an application that will allow users to access a diary, mood tracker, and documentation. The prototype will tackle anxiety and depression. It will educate the local community directory for mental health professionals in El Paso and possible ways to deal with anxiety and depression. We are making the community safe by providing a temporary outlet and resources as someone waits for a mental health professional. We will cater to the community by focusing on the border city with options such as bilingualism.
